High Performance Teams

In the 21st century, more organizations are moving to
the team concept to maximize overall organizational performance through the
combined efforts of people. The old adage, “Two heads are better than one” has
proven to be a valid statement, as organizations strive to face the many
challenges in the internal and external environments.

In this discussion question, please find an article relating to high performance teams. If possible, try to find
an article on high performance teams in the type of business you selected for
your business plan. Answer the following questions relating to the article and
your own experience with business teams:

  • Please
describe the background for the article you researched and explain why
this particular best practice scenario appealed to you. What did you learn
from the article that you could apply in your business?
  • What
are some characteristics of high performance teams? What are the strengths
and weaknesses of business teams? Please share your experiences as a team
member in either a business or non-business environment.

Thanks for sharing. Some team members (and
leaders) are just more committed and supportive than others. How do you assess
your individual team member’s level of commitment and support? How to you get
your team members motivated? and how do you keep them motivated? Sometimes all
we can do is try to learn something from the experience and move on.

Great start!!!! Thanks for responding to this
post. There is no one best way to pursue your career goals. Each person may
have a slightly or dramatically different approach to addressing this issue.
For me I always like to start out thinking about this from the employer’s
perspective. If I were the employer and I were looking for a person with your
credentials and skills how would I go about finding that person and what would
be the ideal candidate. Then I try to make sure that I have all those
qualifications that the employer is looking for plus some. I would then build a
plan that addresses every aspect of the employer’s requirements for the open
position. This approach can also work for you if you are starting a new
business. I have also found that finding a mentor/coach/champion can make the
process of getting the perfect or dream job you want … possible. The
aforementioned combined with thorough research on what it takes to get the job
can be very helpful. In the end whatever approach you decide to take … it has
to work for you and your personal style. Do you have a landscaping and Snow
Removal coach/mentor/champion?
