Visit an elderly family member, friend, or center that provides services for the elderly. Learn what special needs they have for housing, food, healthcare, communication, socializing, and other needs. Write up your findings.

Project Assignment:

Based on the event scenario you selected, and your study of the elderly as vulnerable populations, identify what elements of the event increased their risk, what specific needs they have, what resources can address those needs, and what long term effects the event has on their vulnerability. Propose a solution to assist the homeless and/or economically disadvantaged using currently available or new resources.

Investigate resources/services available in your area for rural poor, migrants, or immigrants. If possible, visit a center that specifically provides services. If you cannot visit, call and obtain information on the services they provide, who uses the services, how the services are funded, and what special needs they have identified for the population. Be specific with examples.
